WWE Raw 28/03/11 Review
51Punk starts the show sitting in the
middle of the ring with the chants of his name from the crowd before
saying he is going to miss this! He says how Randal Keith Orton took out
the members of ‘his’ new Nexus one by one. He says whether you are a
member of New Nexus or live in the town he was born and raised in, he
really does not care what happens to you. Even if you are punted in the
head, it is not his problem...Even though he cared when Nexus were
punted in the head over those weeks; I guess he is making it look like
he does not need them at WrestleMania. He goes on to say Orton slipped up last week and that Punk is just getting started, but it will end at WrestleMania!
Out comes Orton limping with his knee casted up. In the ring, after a
middle rope DDT, Orton tries to punt Punk, but fails as his knee plays
up and falls and Punk escapes the ring. After realising how weak Orton
is, Punk gets into the ring, taunts Orton, before kicking him in the
knee and giving him a Go To Sleep...With Orton’s injured knee, is Punk
going to defeat Orton, or is Punk going to do too much taunting and mess
up his chance on winning?
Edge and Christian vs. Alberto Del Rio and Brodus Clay (with Ricardo Rodriguez)
I called this match, even with people
saying it would not happen because of Teddy’s rule not to touch each
other between now and WrestleMania.
I do not think Clay is doing as good as WWE may think. As against both
Edge and Christian the slow moving, big man, fails to keep control of
the match. Del Rio on the other hand has a lot more control over
Christian, as he avoids ring time with Edge. While Del Rio and Christian
fight outside the ring, Edge spears Clay for the win...Again it only
took one spear to take and keep him down. I just do not think Clay is
going to do much in the WWE.
After the match, Del Rio locks in his cross
arm breaker but when Edge comes out to try to make the save but Del Rio
runs away. As Edge head back to check on Christian Del Rio, runs up
behind and takes him down and locks in is cross arm breaker...On Raw,
Del Rio looks great. Can he keep it up this week on Smackdown?
Instead of Cole using the anonymous general manager laptop, he has an iPad, which he reads out because of last week’s Cole brutal beat down, Lawler has to prove his still ready for WrestleMania as he takes on Swagger. Lawler, the confident guy he is, says he will get payback on Swagger...I guess Cole is moving up in the world now with his new iPad!
Justin Gabriel (with Wade Barrett, Heath Slater, Ezekiel Jackson) vs. Santino Marella (with Vladimir Kozlov, Kane and The Big Show)
Santino really kicks ass against a member
of what is meant to be a dominating team. After Slater distracts Santino
when he is about to hit the cobra, Kane takes down Slater with an
uppercut, Kozlov pulls Gabriels leg when he bounces against the rope, Big Show boots down Zeke and Wade, before Santino gives Gabriel the Cobra for the win!
After the match, Santino calls in Big Show, who does the Santino
Celebration thing! Then in comes Kane, who starts looking unimpressed,
especially at Big Show who hints to join in, but quite surprisingly
joins in too...That was unexpected but funny!
Next, I did a warm up exercise, ran a
marathon, showered and Taker was still making his way into the ring.
Just like when they both returned, HHH interrupted the end of Takers entrance, but in payback, just when HHH
is about to spit, Takers bell goes, and the lights go off. Then no one
guessed, but Shawn’s makes his way down to the ring...WOW! Does Shawn
want to become a ring announcer? As he explains how Taker the man with
the greatest streak of all time will go against his best friend HHH and how he guarantees none will ever be the same after their No Holds Barred match. Shawn turns to HHH to ask “what in the world makes you think that you can do what I couldn’t?” HHH replies that Shawn went soft and Shawn does not need to win to be who he is, but HHH does and he will win! When HHH
joined sixteen years ago one guy was the glue who held everything
together, who did things no human being should be able to do, how a man
with broken bones and injuries but was able to still wrestle, who taught
HHH that was what the business was about and how he should be like that guy...The Undertaker! Who HHH
grew to respect every day and the only other person he respects as much
is Shawn and few years back they agreed the if one cannot compete
anymore the other would finish the job. HHH came back after a year off, out of respect to stand in the ring with Taker and say it is time and at WrestleMania Taker will no longer be undefeated as HHH
is the ‘one’ as in 18 and 1 as Taker and his streak will rest in peace!
Taker said if he ever felt if there should be anyone to take him down
it should be HHH as that is the kind of respect he has for him, but WrestleMania is not that time, as he will kill himself when trying as the streak and Taker will still be alive after WrestleMania! Taker says if HHH
does not want to take his word for it...Ask Shawn! Shawn being the man
who gave Taker his best two WrestleMania’s of his career but still did
not get the job done. All Taker see’s in Shawn’s eyes is a man who Taker
humbled, who will soon go into the Hall of Fame full of regret and a
man whose career was ended by Taker before hitting the microphone
against Shawn’s rest...In result Shawn tries to give Taker a Sweet Chin
Music only to get caught and setup for a chokeslam. Luckily, HHH makes the save, and then tells Shawn to tell Taker why he will defeat him at WrestleMania
but Shawn does not reply and leaves the ring apologising saying he
cannot do it and all Takers can do is smirk and the segment ends...WOW!
This is making their WrestleMania match a lot more interesting as we are not sure if Shawn will reconsider...I hope so!
Jack Swagger (with Michael Cole) vs. Jerry Lawler
Cole distracts Lawler so Swagger can beat him down. After Swagger kicks Lawler to the outside he throws Lawler over a guard rail, Lawler comes out with a steel chair and starts hitting down Swagger, before going after Cole. Sadly, he gets to his Cole Mine, but Lawler still tries to go for Cole, but Cole throws his drink at Lawler and then starts saying wait for Sunday and verbally abuses him again!
Vickie comes out and does a Morrison pose on the ramp...I guess she did
not do it too bad! In the ring and says something but I could not make
out what was said because of the crowd booing her!
Dolph Ziggler and Sheamus (with Vickie Guerrero) vs. Daniel Bryan and John Morrison
Dolph and Sheamus were the dominant tag team, and when Bryan was unable to lock in his Le Bell Lock, it did not take Sheamus long to get the upper hand and defeat Bryan with the Running Crucifix Powerbomb!
Orton backstage says he has serious anger
management issues and he seriously despises Punk and the question
is...Will Punk make it out of WrestleMania?
The Road Warriors and Paul Ellering and the next inductees to the Hall of Fame!
Then we have a segment in a bar with Trish and Snookie talking about their match...When it finished I thought, good now moving on, but then we had to see it again but with Trish and Snookie fighting against LayCool!
Rock comes out with his old them...Oh, how I
have missed it! In the ring, Rock says how important Chicago is to him.
As it was the first WrestleMania
Rock competed in and that night he was nervous, but it was the first
time he decided to bring it and was the unofficial birth of team bring
it and how he and everyone else brings it! Team Bring It, is not just a
slogan, it is a way of life, with team bring it you knock down door, you
kick down walls and anyone who tells you, you can’t, you take your
fears, you insecurities, your worries, you roll them all up into a ball,
you turn those son bitch sideways and stick them straight up their
candy ass and you go after your dream...I loved that definition of Team
Bring it! Then he says how his dream was to call out Cena, and he comes down in his bright rainbow shirt looking like a homeless power ranger...HAHA! Rock then says he wakes up and reality is that the People’s Champ is here! Out comes Cena, to say that the WWE is where the Rock belongs...So far Cena is right! After Cena
states he does not know why Rock left, but wanted to hear what Rock had
to say when he came back but wanted to know what Rocks problem is with Cena. After going through the points about Cena, Cena
says he is proud of who he is and what he has become. By now, I was
like...Okay, let Rock talk now. When Rock talks he said only one person
will judge Cena, Rock, and that is the good lord himself, but the good lord cannot save Rock whooping Cena’s ass! Cena says he has said everything he wanted to say to Rocks face like a man. Out come Miz and Riley. Miz calls Rock overhyped and Cena over rated. He reminds Cena how he has owned Cena over the past month he has owned Cena and how he will lose at WrestleMania.
He then says Rock will do nothing tonight as he needs to stay in good
shape for his films and does not want to get beaten so bad by Miz. After Rock says it doesn’t matter what Miz thinks, he gets in Miz’s face only to get beaten down by Miz and Riley...I thought Cena
may have came to help Rock out and maybe patch things up, but instead,
better than that, Rock whooped ass. He slapped Riley out the ring, he
then gave Miz a DDT, but sadly failed to flip back up, but it is fine, he is only getting back into this, he then gave Miz a People’s Elbow. Next, Cena
did the cowardly thing, he gave Rock an Attitude Adjustment as soon as
he turned round to finish the show...Oh, Rock is so not going to let
that slide to jackass!
